Our annual work combines committee research, member education, fundraising, partner communication, and carefully planned travel.
How projects begin
We do not begin with a predetermined solution. We begin by understanding the community context.
Each committee investigates an area of focus, but no initiative moves forward without further development grounded in community input, evidence, feasibility, and local partnerships. The most important requirement is a clear plan for long-term use.
Our planned partner community
Project RISHI at UCI plans to travel to Saldi, a village near Amreli, during winter quarter. Year-round, our members are preparing through committee research, fundraising, member education, and communication with local leaders and community members.
Our first visit is planned for December 2026, when we expect to emphasize clinical resources and educational workshops. The goal is to learn directly from Saldi and continue developing initiatives that are practical, community-informed, and sustainable over time.
2026–2027
Recruit and organize
Meet prospective members, introduce the chapter’s mission, and explain committee opportunities.
Welcome new members and establish working groups for the five committee areas.
Begin member training in community-centered research, cultural responsibility, and project planning.
Prepare, travel, and continue
Finalize clinical and education objectives, partner communication, logistics, member preparation, and project materials.
Travel to Saldi near Amreli for community-guided clinical and educational work with local leaders, doctors, teachers, farmers, and residents.
Organize findings from the visit, reflect on community feedback, evaluate project outcomes, and plan responsible next steps with local partners.
Continue local volunteering, fundraising, donation drives, campus outreach, and member education while preparing support for the next phase of work with Saldi.
